Jonathan Davis – Freaks Do It Better Campaign

I was someone who sits alone but not completely alone; music was my one and forever close friend. I needed nothing more. I thought it was okay to be different until I grew up and realized that people around you do not accept what’s different and people fear what does not belong and conform. It was all good though, I didn’t care much, yet as I kept getting older, I remember the first day at university, a group of my classmates bullied me for having different views, mocked me for my music and they way I dress, called me Satanist.

We all share similar stories about bullying. While some stand their ground and fight, others fall in depression and eventually suicide.

Korn’s frontman Jonathan Davis had his own share of this and here’s what he thinks about it: “FUCK BULLYING! I’ve been bullied so many times in my life for being “different” and I know a lot of you have as well. It’s time that us FREAKS stand together and show the world that it’s good to be a freak, weird, and straight up different.”

So he is launching a 2-week T-Shirt brand campaign with Merchful today to help those that are suffering from bullying or suicidal thoughts. Jonathan Davis continued: “As you know, bullying is something a lot of people have to deal with and many times that type of harassment leads to suicide. Let’s help shine a light on this crap, let’s be weird, let’s be different, but always be yourself. Let’s see how many people we can get behind this movement.”

NEW KORN SONG “A DIFFERENT WORLD” FT COREY TAYLOR

The long-awaited collaboration between Korn and Slipknot’s Corey Taylor is finally here! In a world exclusive premiere with Metal Hammer, they’re streaming the new track right now. “A Different World” is taken from Korn’s upcoming albumThe Serenity Of Sufferingwhich is due on October 21 but is available to pre-order RIGHT NOW!

But how did the collaboration happen?

Seems like fate had something to do with it! “When I was working on this song, Corey texted Nick [Raskulinecz, producer] and it popped in my head that he would be the perfect person to collaborate on the record,” reveals Jonathan. “I’ve collaborated with everybody I’ve cared to collaborate with so far in my career, so it was hard trying to think of someone, but it so happened that Corey texted at the right time.”

“I’ve been friends with him for a long long time, he’s covered my ass a couple of times, when I got really sick back in 2006 with that crazy blood disorder he came out and did a couple of songs with the band so we could at least show up and say that we tried to play.”

In conclusion, Jonathan said: “We’ve had a long relationship over the years, he’s a good guy and a great singer.”

Last but not least, you can get it from iTunes, Google Play, or a proper physical copy from Amazon.

Check it out here, it is damn HEAVY!

KORN NEW ALBUM:

Korn, the Nu-metal pioneers, announced a date for their twelfth studio album, “The Serenity Of Suffering”, on October 21 through Roadrunner Records, which is the follow-up to 2013’s “The Paradigm Shift”.

“The Serenity Of Suffering” track listing:

01. Insane
02. Rotting In Vain
03. Black Is The Soul
04. The Hating
05. A Different World (feat. Corey Taylor)
06. Take Me
07. Everything Falls Apart
08. Die Yet Another Night
09. When You’re Not There
10. Next In Line
11. Please Come For Me

In addition, Korn have revealed the official music video for their new track, “Rotting In Vain”, which was performed live last week at Chicago Open Air, starring Sons Of Anarchy’s Tommy Flanagan.

About the meaning of the song, lead singer Jonathan Davis says: “Rotting in Vain was written about being in that black place, being in situations that I don’t like in life, be it relationships or feeling when you’re stuck and you’re just being abused or you don’t like where you’re at, and you just sit there and rot. It takes you years and years to figure out how to claw your way out. That’s where ‘Rotting in Vain’ came from. That’s the vibe that inspired the song.

Check it out here; it is really epic:
