PHENOMY Day Of Reckoning New Single!
Lebanese Metal Thrashers PHENOMY have released a new single about 10 days ago. The release came 9 days before their scheduled Dubai show, opening for Kalmah. The UAE concert would have marked a new milestone in the band’s achievements, as it would have been their first time in the country. But sadly PHENOMY couldn’t reach The Music Room show due to travel restrictions. You can read their full official statement >here<.
“Day Of Reckoning” is a standalone single, that wasn’t included in the band’s debut album “Once And For All”, and might not be included even in the upcoming album. The song was released through Bach Entertainment with a lyrical video.
The song starts with some very tight and enjoyable melodic Thrash riffs. “Day Of Reckoning” shows a maturity in composition compared to the previous releases, and a slight improvement in the recording quality from the first album. But the recording and mixing still didn’t give the vocalist Bassam Felfly justice as his vocals sound distorted. As for the song solo, this is most probably the best work Loic El Haddad did so far and it is perfect and suits the song very well.
“Day Of Reckoning” is definitely an inspiration from the first wave of 80’s Thrash with a twist. It is important to note though that most of Phenomy’s songs have almost the same progressions which make the songs sound similar at some point. Regardless of that, the song is a must listen, and we will be waiting for the second album that, as promised, will be better in recording quality and composition creativity.
