We were the first to break the news for you (here) and we will be the first to tell you more.

Jay_in_LALast October, Jay Wud was busy working with renowned Grammy nominated and multi-award winning American music producer Howard Benson (Motörhead, Sepultura, Papa Roach, My Chemical Romance, Santana, etc.) and sound engineer/producer Mike Plotnikoff (Bon Jovi, Black Stone Cherry, Daughtry) to record some new material in West Valley Studios, Los Angeles. A third album is expected to be released pretty much soon this year. Though some complications occurred and the whole band wasn’t able to fly all the way to LA, producer Howard Benson then suggested hiring drummer Joe Rickard and bassist Marty O’Brien to fill in for Pascal Elias and Eriks Dilevs respectively, while all guitars and vocals were recorded by Jay himself. “I can tell you one thing for sure, we’ll all be in the studio recording again together very soon.” Jay confirmed.

As promised by Jay Wud’s management, they released a teaser of the first single from the band’s upcoming record “LOW”. The music video is a very cool animation that was produced in France by filmmakers and animators Nerf Optique and will be released in full on the 19th of this month. It will be followed by a short documentary tracking Jay’s cultural and musical journey through LA where he worked with Howard to bring the material to life.

“Low” is a heavy, high-octane, riff-driven song, and was the very last song I wrote before setting off to Los Angeles to start recording. It screams with rage and will have you head banging till the very last second. The video however is still quite dark, but a little tongue-in-cheek with its references, which provides a nice contrast to the song.” – JAY WUD

This release represents the next stage in the evolution of Jay Wud’s sound, which has firmly established the act as one of the staples of the Middle Eastern Rock scene. With the help of a seasoned, internationally acclaimed producer, the new material is expected to be a perfect tone-setter for the upcoming record.

The production was mastered by engineer Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Björk) and will be released both in the Middle East and the United States through A&R Worldwide.

A full length interview with Jay Wud about the album will be published in Issue #7 of Metal Bell this February. Stay tuned!
