Jad Shokor covers 21 of Avenged Sevenfold’s best riffs!
The video was made after many fans started requesting that he do more A7X covers after seeing his Unholy Confessions cover. The video was even shared by Shecter Guitar’s Facebook page!
About Jad:
A Rap fan in his youth, Jad then diverted towards Alternative Rock (such as Three Days Grace), and later on became fond of Rock and Metal, mainly through the PS2 game Guitar Hero II. With a new found love for 80’s Rock (Guns N’ Roses, Motley Crue, Twisted Sister…) and Slash as an idol, Jad picked up the guitar 4 years ago, self-taught at first then under the tuition of Omara Khaddaj, guitarist of local Progressive Rock act Shadowalls.
He is now about to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in I.T. and is learning Game Development, which he sees as his ultimate career, on his own. His favorite bands are Avenged Sevenfold as well as Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine. He has never joined a band himself.
The video features songs from each of the band’s albums (aside from Diamonds in the Rough) as well as their singles, ordered chronologically. The choice of covered songs is interesting as it changes between the quintet’s most famous tracks and some that are way less known. Each cover lasts less than 30 seconds and has the recorded song running in the background.
What I personally find quite noteworthy is the quality of the video: aside from the very good sound quality, it drastically diverges from the classical “phone video of guitarist sitting on his bed in his visibly messy bedroom” format, with a lot of thought given into aesthetics and editing. The video features Jad sporting an Avenged Sevenfold shirt and a signature Synyster Gates Schecter guitar (that of the band’s lead guitarist), playing the songs on a blank background; the color scheme of the video varies according to the cover scheme of each album’s cover.
On a musical level, all I can say is that any technical slip up is too subtle for the ears of a non-musician such as myself. What I can assure you of, though, is that for an Avenged Sevenfold fan, it’s definitely a treat. Check out this video where a passionate young musician gives it his all.
Full support, Jad!
