Back in August, the major news was that Tony Iommi was cancer free. Today, Tony Iommi Cancer Treatment will resume after a lump is found in Black Sabbath guitarist’s throat.
Tony Iommi Cancer Treatment will be resumed only as a precaution. After Tony’s visit to his doctor for a check-up, the physician told the legendary guitarist that there is no activity where the cancer was. But there is something in the throat, and it is better to be removed in case it was cancerous.
In 2012, the Heavy Metal Godfather revealed that he was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer, and the whole metal scene was saddened. Four years later, the guitarist announced that he was cancer free after a painful battle and treatment that he underwent during “The End” tour.
In a recent interview with the Irish Times, Tony Iommi said: “I went for a check four weeks ago and the doctor said that, at the moment, there’s no activity where I had the cancer before – but there is activity in the throat. When I get back to England I have to have an operation to remove this thing at the back of my nose. The doctors found a lump and we don’t know if it’s cancer or what. But I feel okay at the moment.”
Reflecting on how he dealt with his diagnosis, Iommi explained: “I was knocked for six when doctors told me it was stage-three cancer. It really did change my life as far as what I have to do now. I have to live what life I’ve got. I’ve been on the road for nearly 50 years – I need to be at home more and I need to pay more attention to my friends and family.”
And he considers his cancer diagnosis as being the most shocking and the lowest point in his life.
The interview went on to discuss Black Sabbath and his musical career. And he answered the half-century-old question, if Black Sabbath are a Heavy Metal Band and if he is okay with that label.
