After much pressure, Jordan has had a change of heart and has agreed to allow Mashrou’ Leila’s show in Amman to occur.

Jordan will permit the Lebanese band to play despite earlier allegations that the band’s music violated local religious beliefs.

Khalid Abu Zeid, the politician who initially announced the ban against Mashrou’ Leila, said in a new statement, and without further elaboration, that “we don’t mind if this concert takes place”.

Mashrou’ Leila has thanked the fans and international media for their support in this issue, but have lamented the fact that the change of heart from the Jordanian government came too late to reschedule the show.
