Rock legend Jimmy Page is planning to bring us some new tunes by 2016.
Not with Led Zeppelin, but in a solo album. Page expressed his desire to return back to stage and deliver new music of different genres and eras in an interview with Classic Rock, or as he described it as âsurprisesâ and âtotally newâ.
In the interview, Page explains that the reissue of the Led Zeppelin Albums was the main reason for delaying his new album and tour plans.
âAnd the only way to have time is to shut down and then do what you want to do. Iâve been doing so much LED ZEPPELIN stuff over quite a number of years now. I finished, more or less, all of the companion discs before the first three releases â ‘I’, ‘II’ and ‘III’. But then there were all the booklets to do, and promo. So it’s not been so easy to think about anything else in the tail end of this year. But okay, next year â bang!â
Page continues describing the music: âThe writing that Iâve been doing, Iâm thinking of it in a totally different way. And that has a charm of its own, and an excitement to itâŠThere will be all sorts of material from different eras, right across the board â thatâs the way Iâm seeing it. But like I said, there will be surprises. It wonât be entirely what people might be expecting. The best way for me to think about it, is pacing towards a really exciting show, where youâve still got chance to improvise and come up with new things every night. And I think in that sense, people are going to say, âYeah, okay, I get it.â
Despite Page having a clear image of how he wants his music and live performances to be and sound, he has not assigned any musicians yet.
