Featuring:

Steel Engraved – Power Metal (Germany)

The German Power Metal Band STEEL ENGRAVED was founded in 2006 by Andy Straehler, Marco Schober, Chris Wende, Thorsten Zirpner, and Anton Weber. In December 2009, Daniel Kieslinger joined Steel Engraved and replaced Anton Weber on the drums, Thomas Lang replaced Thorsten Zirpner on bass at the end of 2011. In 2013, Kathi Praml took the bass. That same year, Max Lindner (keyboards) joined the band.

The first Demo CD, FUEL FOR LIFE, was released in 2007 and gained many good reviews. The first Long Player (LP) “STATE OF SIEGE” came out in August 2010 at STONE STALLION RECORDS and was a pretty classical tribute to the Heavy Metal of the 80’s.

Since then, the band’s sound developed continuously to modern Power Metal with some symphonic influences but never lost its classical roots.

In 2012, Steel Engraved released their new Album called “ON HIGH WINGS WE FLY” by SAOL Records (CMM Marketing) which is a straight piece of true German Power Metal. It was produced by VICIOUS RUMOR’s Mastermind GEOFF THORPE during January and February 2012. It got great references nearly worldwide.

Voice Of The Soul – Progressive Death Metal (Lebanon)

Founded in October 2007 in Kuwait by Kareem Chehayeb and Monish Shringi, they released their first EP, ‘Winds of Apprehension’ in July 2009 with second EP, ‘Eyes of Deceit’, seeking the light of day the following summer.

After playing several shows in Dubai since January 2011, the band opted to relocate to the most popular city and emirate in the UAE before releasing their third EP, ‘Into Oblivion’,  live on SOS Heavy Metal Radio in Portugal in August 2011. ‘Into Oblivion’ was undoubtedly the band’s most successful record with songs receiving regular airplay across the globe.

During April 2014, the band made home at Haven Studio with producer Hadi Sarieddine in Dubai and recorded their debut full-length album ‘Catacombs’. Rudy Fares joined the band on drums, and long-time friend Bassem Farra joined on bass for live shows allowing the band to further their scopes with live performances.

Digitally released in UAE on 28th September 2014, ‘Catacombs’ was officially released in Europe via Hells Hammer and India via Transcending Obscurity on 27th March of the same year.

With Kareem moving back to Lebanon, VOTS is now based in Beirut, with the exception of founding member Monish who still lives in the Gulf.

Ascendant – Heavy Metal (UAE)

Ascendant was formed in late 2012 by Alaa, Puneet, and Ashish. Right from the beginning, the members had a clear vision for the band – to play exactly the sort of music they loved. Pure, powerful, and high quality heavy metal about topics that mattered to them.

For several months, the band auditioned multiple drummers trying to find the best possible fit – and they found exactly that with Aram.
The entry of the very talented Youmni on vocals cemented the line up.

With an emphasis on playing original material, Ascendant has taken the UAE metal scene by storm after just a handful of shows.

All the band members are experienced musicians with several projects behind them. Their synergy is obvious and is manifested in their electrifying live performances and songs which are instantly catchy and unapologetically powerful.

Alpha.Kenny.Buddy – NuMetal/Alternative (UAE)

Straight up Nu Metal all the way from Dubai, UAE, Alpha Kenny Buddy started off in late 2008 by ex Nikotin bassist Ahmed ‘Dirty’ Bachari and Salman Maqsood aka ‘Sally’. With just a rough idea for a few songs, they already found a gig to play hence the search for members began.

Ahmed got in touch with Ali Mohammadi aka ‘Ali Square’ who agreed to fill in for bass and is now a full-time member of the band. Then they met Sami Al Turki who helped them shape up the few songs as the gig got closer. With a mixed bag of expectations, they hit the stage and blew the audience away with three complete originals and a cover by Korn. The band definitely left their mark when they got off that stage.

Today, the band has a completely new image with new members Harsh Singh on Lead Guitars and Tesson on Drums. They released an EP on May 17, 2013 which was mentioned in local as well as global webzines and print media.

Tesson then had to leave the country for his studies, and Ziad was approached to join as a permanent member. Currently the band started work on fresh new material for the upcoming debut album.

Interesting to note that AKB won the Sound Smash Battle of the bands in February 2014.
