New comers, Prominence, released their first song, four months ago and it features none other than Derek Roddy (ex-Nile, ex-Hate Eternal, Serpents Rise) behind the kit.
Prominence is a new Death Metal band from Lebanon formed less than a year ago. It was gathered by Rock INsight Organization‘s founder and ex-Within Destruction drummer Jack Khamo. After several posts and teasers, Prominence released their first single “Slaughter of Dreams”. The song was composed and written by Khamo himself. But on this song, Jack decided to record the guitar and the bass rather than the drums, leaving that mission to the DW drummer Derek Roddy. Joining him as well on the guitars are guitarists Matt Lawand and Albert Obeid.
As the line up of Prominence was shaky, the band performed with Albert Obeid during Metal United World Wide Event but as a session guitarist. The band have put up a great show with Albert giving it all on the axe.
A few days ago only, the band announced their newest member, Maurice Semaan, with a post that reads:
“Ladies and gentlemen! We introduce you our new axe-man! Mr. Maurice Semaan! Welcome to the family brother! Another big news coming your way next week, stay tuned and stay metal \m/”
Prominence updated line up is: Maurice Semaan (Guitar), Matt Lawand (Guitar), Sergio Ashjian (Bass), Jack Khamo (Drums), and Nareg Cherchian (Vocals).
“Slaughter of Dreams” featured the legend Derek Roddy ( ex-Nile, ex-Hate Eternal, Serpents Rise) on drums. The song was recorded by all band members (Jack Khamo, Matt ML, Sergio Ashjian, Nareg Cherchian) and our friend Albert Obeid. The song was recorded with Anwar Habib and Triptych Studio.
Prominence was announced to perform in this year’s edition of Beirut Metal Fest on September 7th at Porsche Factory Beirut. The festival will be headlined by Death Metallers Decapitated.

After 20 years, Roy Khan returns to Norwegian Power Metal band, CONCEPTION, by reuniting with its most famous lineup: Tore Østby, Ingar Amlien, and Arve Heimdal.
CONCEPTION is a Progressive Power Metal band that was formed in the year 1989 and disbanded in 1998 after Khan left to join the American Progressive Metal band, KAMELOT. Khan then left Kamelot in 2010 and went off the radar. In 2014, we published the investigative viral article “What Happened To Roy Khan After Leaving The Band” which tried to collect several information from here and there, and later in 2016, we published a letter that shows Khan’s interest in going back to music. Check it out >here<.
CONCEPTION decided to release their comeback album by financing it themselves and by asking for the help of their fans through a crowdfunding campaign via a PledgeMusic campaign.
“Since releasing the album “Flow” in 1997, the members have been working on separate projects, but fans never gave up hope of seeing them together as a band again. There have been rumors and speculations for some time about a possible reunion, and now they confirm they’ve been quietly working for some time on this new material.
Singer Roy Khan (ex-KAMELOT) says: “It’s great to be back together. The strong bond we have makes for a great foundation for creativity. We can’t wait to present our new music which we feel shows development but still bears the signature of CONCEPTION.”
Guitarist Tore Østby adds: “I can only agree with Roy. I think it’s been a surprising experience for all of us to meet each other musically again and find where this work has taken us.”
The decision to do this on their own has been unanimous, to explore the possibilities in having full control. They have already formed a team of professionals believing in the band’s comeback. The band intends to raise money to release a single and EP in the autumn.
Khan (full name: Roy Sætre Khantatat) recently released his first-ever solo song called “For All”. The track, which was written by Khan, was recorded at Stable Studios in Oslo, Norway in March 2018 and features Roy on vocals, piano and keyboards alongside Leif Johansen on fretless bass and Geir Olav Akselsen on all guitars.
After his departure from KAMELOT seven years ago, Khan, who is a devout Christian, joined a church in the coastal town of Moss, Norway. As an employee of Moss Frikirke, Khan worked with the youth, mainly with the choir and the skaters of the village. Roy stopped working at the church in September 2016, but is reportedly still living and working in Moss.
Khan announced his exit from KAMELOT in April 2011 after taking several months off to recover from a “burnout.” He explained in a statement at the time: “I told the guys in the band already last fall (well after my burnout) that I was leaving the band. Naturally enough, they were shocked (as was the label and everyone else working with KAMELOT). In addition to risk of dropping ticket sales, they wanted to give me time to think things over, and so I did. My decision still stands; it is finished.”
KAMELOT officially announced Tommy Karevik as its new lead singer in June 2012. The Florida-based band has recorded three albums so far with the Swedish vocalist: 2012’s “Silverthorn”, 2015’s “Haven” and “The Shadow Theory”, which arrived earlier month.” – Source Blabbermouth.
Earlier this week, the band posted a cryptic teaser video that teased “Burn The Priest” was coming on March 23! Groove Metal masters Lamb Of Godstarted first as Burn The Priestin 1994 and changed their name over to Lamb Of Godin 1999 to avoid satanic accusations.
It turned out that the band is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its debut album with a collection of covers titled Legion: XX, due on May 18 through Epic Records.
The 10-track set includes Agnostic Front’s “One Voice”, Bad Brains’ “I Against I” and The Accused’s “Inherit the Earth,” which is the first single. After much awaited time, the band beloved by the entirety of the local scene, Kaoteon, has finally released a new album. The band has had a great start this year, releasing the album as part of Complexity Fest in the Netherlands. “Damnatio Memoriae” is a twist on death metal, with the wicked elements of atmospheric black metal and the brutality of death metal. Kaoteon has taken on what bands like Behemoth have created and weaved into a unique blend. This separates the band’s release from others and lets it shine out due to the gloomy atmosphere it sets.
Formed in late 1998 as a one-man band by guitarist Anthony Kaoteon (and then later joined by Walid Wolflust (also known as Walid Choughari) on vocals, the band has gone through multiple lineup changes often revolving around them. On their latest album, two session musicians, Linus Klausenitzer from Obscura and Fredrik Widigs from Marduk, were featured.
The album, in my opinion, is a great representation of what Kaoteon’s music is all about. Instrumentally, “Damnatio Memoriae” isn’t your usual blast beat only metal riffs, but a balance between the latter and great melody. The bass isn’t following the guitar but rather doing its own thing and the drums are just a complex merge of technicality with a drop of groove. With such a musically diverse-in the sense-background, the vocals cover anything from haunting shrieks to hardcore growls. The album opens up with two emotionally contrasting songs. While “Damnatio Memoriae” starts out with enraged vocals that sear hearts and instruments that roar with uncontrollable fury, the next track “Barren Lands” gives a more openly aggressive sound similar to that of modern black metal artists. And thus unfolds the album as a harmonious combination of total mayhem and melody.
Yet throughout the album, the band keeps the composition and structure efficient with the instruments building up upon each other and aggravating until they all erupted, as the vocals stared in the eyes of “the man” and spit blood onto them. With a consistent nod of oriental background and a touch of progressive music, Kaoteon slowly soared above ending the record with a glorious resurrection of what the band is all about. The album sheds light on themes such as political corruption and religious intolerance, topics to which they have been often faced in their country. And if that’s not enough, the band has released the album on its own with the help of great mixer Daniel Bergstrand.
KAMELOT are one of metal’s most unique, influential, and prestigious acts that blend symphonic metal, prog, power metal, and world music – so it comes as little surprise that the whole metal world is holding its breath in anticipation of “The Shadow Theory”! The band have already unveiled the first info and details on their new masterpiece. The band have unleashed the first world premiere of the single and lyric video for the track RavenLight as a worldwide exclusive via Loudwire.
“The album offers many diverse songs, here is one of the mid tempo tracks being offered as an IG for the fans, enjoy this one, more to come!!” Thomas Youngblood on “RavenLight”
“The Shadow Theory” was produced by acclaimed music producer Sascha Paeth and mastered by Jacob Hansen. Guests on the album include Lauren Hart (Once Human), Jennifer Haben (Beyond The Black) and Sascha Paeth. The amazing cover and artwork was created by Stefan Heilemann. (Find all details on track listing and available formats below)
Following the release of “The Shadow Theory”, KAMELOT will embark on a massive World Tour with label-mates DELAIN and Battlebeast, starting in North America during April and May, followed by European festivals in Summer 2018. No rest for the wicked as the band will return to Europe in September/October 2018 for their biggest headline tour to date. (scroll down for dates)

Lone survivors of the Iraqi Metal Scene, Dark Phantom, are planning to tour Syria. If you don’t know who Dark Phantom are yet, do check out our interview and article that have all you need to know about them >HERE<. Iraqi Dark Phantom needs your help to finance this tour. It is not not much to ask, the fund-raising is set to collect 1,200 €. Since they launched the campaign until today, they have collected (to date of writing this article) 322 €.
Murad Mohammed, the band’s guitarist and main-man, has written a message (read below) as a description of the purpose of the fund-raising. In this letter, the band’s leader sheds the light on the situation of Metal in Iraq, which is apparently “illegal” and their struggle in having any possibility in performing there. The band then took the decision to visit their war-torn neighbors for multiple shows. But such shows need funding, hence the “money pot” project.
Or support by buying DARK PHANTOM’S album “Nation Of Dogs” >here<
Welcome to this money pot !
Hello earthlings, We’re Dark Phantom a Heavy Metal band from Iraq, We started this campaign to raise money to travel and tour in our neighboring war torn country Syria and play multiple Metal shows there with our original music, We work full time jobs and are trying our best to support the band and the Metal scene in both Iraq and Syria but our sole effort is not enough and we need financial help, We go through daily struggle to practice as a band wether it’s equipments that are too expensive for us or finding a place to practice since music in these forms are forbidden and prohibited by law and religion, Many times our shows get canceled mostly by the Ministry of Culture! They state that such music cane never be played in here, That’s why we need Metal patriots around the globe to help us out to travel to Syria to make a good impact in the Metal scene and spread the word and the music here in the Middle-east.
Only moments ago, Slayer disturbed metalheads around the globe by announcing a farewell tour. The announcement featured a trailer in which Slayer took us with nostalgia. This, however, came as no shock to most people as the band, especially Tom Araya, had kept hinting at the possibility of retirement.
Slayer are yet to announce tour dates(updated: 25-1-18: scroll down for dates and links of each event), but as the video shows it will be a WORLD TOUR!
Slayer To Bid Fans Farewell: “The End is Near…Slayer to tour the world one more time…”
Apparently, the farewell tour will feature: Lamb Of God, Anthrax, Behemoth, and Testament. As you can see in the poster below, that was posted simultaneously with the farewell tour announcement video on the band’s official website.
Slayer then posted on all their social media outlets the following:
The end is near…
SLAYER TO MAKE ITS EXIT WITH ONE FINAL WORLD TOUR

Slayer will do one last concert tour around the globe to thank their fans for all of their support over the years, for making the last three-and-a-half decades so packed with good times and unforgettable experiences, and will then move on.
Lamb of God, Anthrax, Behemoth and Testament will support Slayer on the first leg, North America, of its final world tour.
