Jonathan Davis – Freaks Do It Better Campaign

I was someone who sits alone but not completely alone; music was my one and forever close friend. I needed nothing more. I thought it was okay to be different until I grew up and realized that people around you do not accept what’s different and people fear what does not belong and conform. It was all good though, I didn’t care much, yet as I kept getting older, I remember the first day at university, a group of my classmates bullied me for having different views, mocked me for my music and they way I dress, called me Satanist.

We all share similar stories about bullying. While some stand their ground and fight, others fall in depression and eventually suicide.

Korn’s frontman Jonathan Davis had his own share of this and here’s what he thinks about it: “FUCK BULLYING! I’ve been bullied so many times in my life for being “different” and I know a lot of you have as well. It’s time that us FREAKS stand together and show the world that it’s good to be a freak, weird, and straight up different.”

So he is launching a 2-week T-Shirt brand campaign with Merchful today to help those that are suffering from bullying or suicidal thoughts. Jonathan Davis continued: “As you know, bullying is something a lot of people have to deal with and many times that type of harassment leads to suicide. Let’s help shine a light on this crap, let’s be weird, let’s be different, but always be yourself. Let’s see how many people we can get behind this movement.”

Sepultura Releases “Machine Messiah” 2017

This year kicks off with Brazilian metal legends Sepultura with the release of their 14th studio album titled “Machine Messiah” via Nuclear Blast Records.

This album revolves around a central theme which is the “robotization of our society nowadays,” said guitarist Andreas Kisser: “The concept of a God Machine who created humanity and now it seems that this cycle is closing itself, returning to the starting point. We came from machines and we are going back to where we came from. The messiah, when he returns, will be a robot, or a humanoid, our bio-mechanical savior.”
Sepultura have always explored a lot of different styles and genres, and that trend continues on Machine Messiah, with 47 minutes of ripping riffs and impressive vocals. I personally think this album is a real kickass.

Pick up, download, and stream the album at http://media.nuclearblast.de/shoplanding/2017/Sepultura/machine-messiah.html

OverKill’s “Mean, Green, Killing Machine” UNLEASHED

New Jersey Thrashers Overkill released another track, “Mean, Green , Killing Machine”, from their upcoming 18th studio album, “The Grinding Wheel”, that will be out on February 10, 2017 via Nuclear Blast. Continue reading

Deep Purple Releases ‘Time For Bedlam’ Single

Deep Purple, the British Rock legends that need no introduction for the decades of influential music on the myriad of bands we know today, have finally released the first single, “Time for Bedlam”, taken from their anticipated new album “InFinite” that will be available on April 7th 2017 via earMUSIC.

“Time For Bedlam” will be available as instant grat as part of the digital album pre-order, as well as on all streaming platforms starting from Thursday, December 15, midnight worldwide with the physical pre-order of the album to start at the same time. Also, a limited-edition EP for “Time For Bedlam”, with non-album songs and unreleased recordings, will hit the shops on February 3.

Singer Ian Gillan declared: “If you take it literally, you may, quite reasonably, think the ‘Finite’ part of the word describes the life of DEEP PURPLE, with a clear beginning and a nebulous end; but what of the ‘in’ bit? The word ‘infinite’ is a three-dimensional, double-edged sword. It describes something that goes on forever in all directions; not unlike its temporal equivalent ‘Eternal’. What’s that all about?

Check out the lyric video here:

The band recently announced their “Long Goodbye Tour”, which will bring the legendary live show once again all over the world. The band has not yet answered the many questions received by fans from all over the world who are speculating about the meaning of the title “InFinite” and “Long Goodbye”.

DEEP PURPLE — which has been eligible for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for two decades now — finally entered the Rock Hall as part of the class of 2016.

QUEENSRĆžCHE’s Hellfire Is Out Now

QUEENSRĆžCHE released a new song, “Hellfire”, from their upcoming album “Condition HĂŒman” which will be available on October 2nd via Century Media.

Singer Todd La Torre tells Billboard: “Each song individually is its own story, which does not have to directly relate to the next song. However, each song is harmonious to a larger picture, which is the human experience, mortality and how each of us perceives the world around us based on our own observations and experiences, thus shaping human behavior.”

Queensryche Hellfire

Regarding the more aggressive musical direction of “Condition HĂŒman” compared to that of 2013’s “QueensrĂżche”, Rockenfield said: “Our fans love metal, and we’ve been pretty good at doing metal in our past, so [we thought], ‘Let’s have fun with some of that again. Let’s do it and see what it means for us.’ We definitely had conscious discussions about it, and now that we have Todd, Todd loves metal, so it was easy to have that conversation about pushing the band in a little bit of that direction.” He added: “I think we wanted to show our fans that we can be a metal band and a rock band, and that we can also write songs that have writer dynamics. I still think we’re doing everything within all the realms of what QUEENSRĆžCHE is known to be doing. This record is just another extension of that for us.”

Even with eleven gold and platinum plaques and several Top 10 hard rock anthems woven into the very fiber of the genre, Queensrÿche won’t relent. In fact, they are in the throes of a jaw-dropping creative resurgence.

Kreator The “Gods Of Violence” RISE

While the media was having a fuss about Metallica’s new album lately, I was anticipating new kick-ass music from the Teutonic thrashers Kreator after posting several video teasers and photos, and posting a photo in Greek that read “ΘΔοί της ÎČÎŻÎ±Ï‚” which translates to Gods of Violence in English. System Of A Down Tours Europe 2017

After years of a long hiatus and several reunions, System of a Down, the highly notable Armenian-American metal band that made incredibly influential music throughout the years and releasing their last album “Hypnotize” back in 2005, announced their tour dates in Europe playing selected festivals and headlining some for this summer of June/July 2017!

In a recent interview, frontman Serj Tankian revealed that SOAD have been communicating with the possibility of writing new material. “We’re communicating and trying to see if we can bring our material together,” Serj said. “There’s definitely a lot of communication going on, a lot of back and forth. I can’t make a statement in terms of whether we’re going to have a record or not, because we haven’t gone into the studio and done it. But there’s definitely communication going on, songs being played to each other and all that stuff, so it’s good. We’ll see what happens. I think it would be great to create something brand new in a new direction. It would be very exciting, but everyone’s got to be on board, on the same page, and it’s got to be done in a way so that everyone is happy. If we can do that, we’ll do it.”

Check out SOAD’s memorable performance in Yerevan-Armenia (2015):

Jason Becker NEW ALBUM In The Making

Jason Becker NEW ALBUM in the making

Jason Becker is an American guitarist and composer, and one of the greatest shredders ever. During his teenage years,  he became part of the Shrapnel Records-produced duo Cacophony with his friend Marty Friedman. They released the albumsSpeed Metal Symphony” in 1987 and “Go Off!” in 1988. Cacophony broke up in 1989 and Becker began doing solo work, having released his first album “Perpetual Burn” in 1988, also through Shrapnel Records. He later joined David Lee Roth’s band and recorded one album with him, “A Little Ain’t Enough”.

Jason Becker ALS diagnosis and new music plans

Becker’s performing career was cut short by Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), which is a neurodegenerative disease where the nerve cells that control your muscles die. The ‘living wires’ which connect your brain to your muscles degenerate, leading to a loss of mobility, loss of speech, and eventually impact the ability to breathe. In 1996, Becker lost the ability to speak. Now he communicates with his eyes via a system developed by his father. Despite his disability, Jason refused to let ALS silence him so he still composes music and a new album is on its way!!

Jason Becker NEW ALBUM crowdfunding campaign

Now, clearly Jason won’t be able to play his music himself. As a result, he decided to gather many of his friends to contribute. In the video below for his new Indiegogo campaign, he explains that he needs support from his fans to pay for the studio time and all the related expenses for making the album. He also announces a list of guest guitarists which is off the charts: Joe Satriani, Aleks Sever, Jeff Loomis, Trevor Rabin, Steve Morse, Gus G, Chris Broderick, and more. The rewards for contributing range from T-shirts and downloads to autographed guitars and sharing your guitar performance video on his page. This is potentially a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to contribute to one of the greats and help make his music come to life. Therefore, check out the video and if you feel moved to contribute, you can do so here :https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/jason-becker-s-new-album-music-guitar#/

“My bro Jason Becker is making a new album and I`ll be playing on a track for it this week! He has written a stunning piece of music, can not wait to play it! The guy is my constant inspiration…” – Marty Freedman (Oct 25, 2016)
